Following on from our successful performance of Messiah in April 2019, singers from Teddington churches and
beyond are coming together to sing Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor at All Hallows Church, Twickenham, on Sunday
March 8th 2020 at 7.30pm. The concert will also include performances of two very popular choral items: Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Allegri’s Miserere as well as Gabrieli’s atmospheric Sonata pian’ e forte for brass ensemble.

The Great Mass in C minor (K427), composed in Vienna between 1782 and 1783, is considered to be one of Mozart’s greatest works. It clearly shows Mozart’s love for the music of the Baroque masters Bach and Handel but the influence of Italian opera is very evident, particularly in the solo arias.

Many enthusiastic singers have signed up for this exciting event and, under the excellent musical direction of Derek
Saunders, rehearsals are progressing well. Teddington Churches’ Singers will be performing with four first-class
professional soloists and the Teddington Consort (leader – Janet Smith).

The concert is being performed in aid of the amazing Momentum Children’s Charity, started at Kingston Hospital in
2004, which works locally to support families whose children have cancer or a life-challenging condition.

Momentum supports the entire family – children, parents, siblings, grandparents – by offering practical and emotional help, trips and respite breaks as well as improving the ward environment for children treated in local hospitals. At any given time the charity supports 200 families of children having treatment and 75 bereaved families.

Tickets are on sale now. They cost £15 (free for under 16’s) and can be obtained here or on the door on the night.
