Fundraising activities

Teddington is buzzing with fundraising activities – why not get involved in one of these? They’re easy, fun and open to all.

Traherne 350 Events: 7-13 October

Foreign Currency Donation Scheme: just back from holiday? Dig out all those foreign notes and coins left over from your overseas trips and holidays and help us raise money for this community project!

If you are local to Teddington and wish to make a personal donation, please drop any foreign currency into an envelope, and put it in the plate at any Sunday service, or into the letterbox of St Mary's Parish Hall on Langham Road, TW11 9HF. If you are able to donate via Gift Aid, please add a note with the currency stating “Yes to Gift Aid", and include your name and address. Click here for further details about the scheme, and some specifics around currencies exchanged (almost all you can think of), and how we will process any larger donations.

For companies, schools, and other organisations wishing to donate, or individuals living further afield, with the help of the currency conversion agency Leftover Currency Ltd, we have set up a webpage on the Charity area of their website: Leftover Currency Ltd. Foreign currency donations can be made in support of the Building Anew project online or via submission of a postal form, with the foreign currency being sent direct to Leftover Currency Ltd.

Recent fundraising efforts

The community has been coming together over the past few months with some fantastic fundraising events, including:

School Disco Party for Grown Ups - it's now everyone's new favourite annual event!  All Disco Daves and Disco Divas kept the party going, whilst raising a serious amount of money for Building Anew: £2684. The live music, epic 80's & 90's DJ set, and bowl food from an ex Jamie Oliver chef, along with the prosecco and margaritas kept everything rocking and gave everyone a great time.

Two Local History Supper Evenings  - bringing lots of interesting facts to life about the local area. £2992 was raised over the two evenings, whilst minds were tested over a fun, interactive quiz and a sumptuous two course dinner.

The Big Community Café Tea Party at the Community Café.

Thank you for all your support. What a great crowd we had over the afternoon, enjoying a selection of homemade cakes and scones, tea/coffee and good company. All part of the local community currently Getting together to Give together by hosting a series of tea parties to raise donations for building these vital facilities at St Mary with St Alban Church, to make it truly accessible to all in Teddington.

The Hundred Hills Challenge

Sophie Edginton, one of our congregation, dusted off her running shoes to take on her first Ultra Marathon - the 50km Hundred Hill Challenge on 16 March 2024 - billed as "an extremely challenging event"! This 80% off-road race takes in 4,000 feet of ascent and 4,000 feet of descent - the equivalent of running up and down Ben Nevis. Sophie says “It was daunting, but every step was worth it, with every penny raised going towards a cause I really care about.” Sophie raised a magnificent £2359 for Building Anew.

Christmas Present Appeal

During advent, visitors to our church offered gifts in the shape of donation labels for our Christmas present appeal. Our stocking was well and truly full by the time Christmas came round – with over £1,000 of donations. Thank you to everyone who donated!

Creative ‘Build-It’ Arts Day

Sidonie from our congregation ran two lively Artventurers creative art sessions for children up to the age of 7 raising over £380 for the building project. A huge thank you to Sidonie and everyone who came along.

Churchyard Teas

Cream teas and a wonderful range of home-made cakes went down a treat at the annual churchyard teas, raising over £900 in the process. A massive thank you to all the bakers and helpers for their wonderful efforts and to all the consumers for their donations!

Choir Concert

It was standing room only at St Mark’s church as the parish choir delighted the audience with its performance and raised over £950 for the building project. Thank you to Derek and everyone involved in staging the event and to all those attending for their donations.
