The Diversity and Inclusion group meets every month with a brief to help our local church and community actively respond to the issues of racism and diversity with which the Church and society are currently grappling. Inspired initially by Ghost Ship, the book published last year by Azariah France-Williams, our former priest at SPSP, we are learning that one of the most important ways in which we can respond is to educate ourselves.

On Tuesday 5 October, we will be holding a "Dinner with Diversity" evening in St Mary's Parish Hall where we will screen extracts from the excellent, thought-provoking C4 documentary The School That Tried to End Racism, after which there will be an opportunity to discuss it together over a homemade meal. Please pre-book your place, so that we can prepare your dinner (see below).

We are also compiling a list of resources, including books, articles and TV programmes which we, as a group, have found useful in increasing our understanding of the issues and we’ll be releasing this in September.

If you’d like to come along to our dinner and discussion on the 5th, or join us more regularly each month when we meet, please email Revd Caroline Halmshaw
