The Bereavement, Community and Memory Cafés remain open, year-round:

Bereavement Café   Birth, Baptism and Marriage give us new people and something to enjoy. But the death of family members or friends brings grief and a sense of loss. Sometimes we need to go somewhere where it’s OK to talk about death and not feel awkward.

Since September 2024, nine volunteers have received training from Princess Alice Hospice as listeners at the Bereavement Café, which is held on the third Monday of each month from 10 - 11.30am at the Peter & Paul Centre, on the corner of Church Road and Broad Street, Teddington.

This is a free ‘drop-in’ café, providing a safe space and mutual support for anyone grieving a loss, whether recent or much longer ago. There is no agenda, and you can choose to share your story or listen to others, while enjoying refreshments. We offer no solutions, but can provide information on other support services.

Attendance is open to all in the community, of any faith or belief. The next dates are Monday January 19th and Monday February 16th.

Looking for home-made cakes, excellent tea & coffee, a warm welcome and good company? Then enter the Community Café, open to all every Monday, 1.30-4.30pm, including Bank Holidays. For all ages out for a chat with friends; children stopping by for a drink & cake from school; those in need of a friendly ear and some company; and people dropping in as they pass by and hear the laughter.

And try the Memory Café, a supportive, safe-space, 1.30-3.00pm, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, if you are caring for someone with memory loss or struggling with your own. Many find the variety of sing-a-longs, bingo, quizzes and chat relaxing and fun.

Or what about volunteering, to enjoy friendships made over set-up, serving, and filling the dishwasher at the end of a session? There is a baking rota too for the delicious home-made cakes. Any support you can give to either of these worthwhile community activities would be wonderful.
